兩大豪門的總教練同聲譴責溫布利的草皮（圖片來源：美聯社）

兵工廠和曼聯在足總盃前後腳被淘汰，無緣爭冠。溫格昨天公開批評溫布利大球場的草皮是災難，佛格森在周日的比賽結束後也發出相同的怒吼。

溫格認為溫布利的草皮根本不是足球場用的，花那麼多錢搞成這樣真是可笑（laughable），更是個災難。

"You spend all that money on the stadium and still have no pitch. It is laughable. It’s not football. The quality of the pitch is a disaster. "

他同時也找到不上幾名主力的理由：「我相信當你某天踢得不好你總是會覺得遺憾，我不確定他（亞歷桑大宋）是否就能夠在空中攔阻下第2個失球。我們24天內要踢8場比賽，你總不能每場都用相同的陣容吧。」

"I believe that when you do not play well some days you always regret (your decisions), I’m not sure if he (Song) could have stopped the ball in the air on the second goal. We are a team who has eight games in 24 days, and you cannot play the same players in every game."

那為什麼也不出納斯里和阿沙文呢？溫格的理由是：對手的定位球很厲害，中場又有幾名高大的球員有很好的身體對抗性，所以我們需要迪亞比與他們戰鬥。

"We know they are dangerous on set-pieces and we are a bit short. Plus they have some tall boys who make it physical in midfield, and we needed a player like (Abou) Diaby to be capable of fighting against them."

這兩個理由其實都有些勉強，不如看看佛格森怎麼解套好了。

佛格森在賽後同樣用「笑話」（joke）來形容溫布利，他解釋自己為什麼用了大半隊替補的原因，是因為看過切爾西對兵工廠之戰後，他不希望自己派出最強的陣容還要踢加時賽。

"When I saw the pitch (in the Chelsea v Arsenal semi), what I didn't want was to go into extra-time with my strongest squad."

溫布利的草皮就像是海綿，球在上面都不太能動。

"It looked spongy and dead and difficult to move the ball quickly around it."

這是佛格森要給年輕小將上場的理由，也可借此機會磨練他們。

"So we had to go with the bold decision of playing the younger ones. After all, our club is built on giving young players opportunities and they didn't disappoint."

不過贏家當然不會這麼說，希丁克認為沒什麼，因為在歐洲和非洲，有很多比這更差的球場。

"If you go to a lot of places in Europe and Africa you get pitches that are a lot worse than that."

至於艾佛頓會贏球，如果說都是拜佛格森沒派主力陣容所賜，那對太妃糖也太不公平了，知名球評Phil McNulty在他的部落格上是如此形容的：「莫耶斯用自己的想像建立起艾佛頓－他們充滿飢渴、欲望、專注、誠實、努力和才華。」

"Moyes has built an Everton team in his own image and likeness - hungry, driven, focused, honest, hard-working and talented."

Condemning the Wembley pitch就是譴責溫布利球場的意思，pitch是指用草皮舖成的球場。
